Valentine’s Day: Scam or Authentic?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kenny at 5:04 pm on Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Valentine’s Day, most notorious for love or candy, is celebrated on February 14th each year by many around the world. But, the main question: Is Valentine’s Day a day for retailers to take advantage of consumers or an authentic day for people to show love to that special person? The answer is both, but it was Esther Howland in 1847 who had a successful business in handmade cards who created the holiday. It is clear that the ulterior motive is to hype up consumers and empty their wallets in restaurants, on cards, or on candy. Other than the above, what else is so special about this Valentine’s Day?

The best gift?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kenny at 2:22 pm on Thursday, August 16, 2007

In America, on special occasions, assorted presents are exchanged, or in the case or someone’s birthday, they will receive presents often items that they wish for or like. However, sometimes it may be hard to find a gift for that certain person in which the easiest present would be a gift card. It is also useful and convenient too, or is it? The person may like like certain shops so instead of “universal gift card” is purchased such as a prepaid credit card. Do you really think that would be the best gift? No.

While it is very unconventional to give cash in this country, the truth is cash is one of the best, useful, convenient gifts. When gift cards are purchased, as mentioned before that person may not like that shop. The prepaid credits cards come with fees, tons of terms and conditions, and eventually becomes a hassle. These cards are frequently misplaced, expire, or get stolen. In fact, stores now have a big portion of their profit from unused gift cards. Only a percentage of the gifts in circulation have been used.

Giving cash ensures that the recipient treats it like cash, does not expire, and can be used anywhere at anytime.

New Congress-not happy

The people elected the current Congress now in control of Democrats because they have felt that the Republicans’ did not deserve to serve America due to their fraudulent actions. They have elected this new Congress expecting a better America, however, the people seem no more satisfied with this one than of the Republican controlled Congress.
This can be easily explained with the length of time it takes for this new Congress to take their actions. They have drafted several new bills for a better America. It just seems to take them quite a long time to discuss and pass. A big obstacle is also passing the bill. The Constitution was made so that it would be hard to pass laws to keep this country from taking big swings. Examples of blockades would be the shaky Senate and the President always threatening to veto the actions of the Congress. With the existence of these barriers, it should only be a short time from now until they lose the power to block.

What is Bush doing?

He is planning to send 20k troops to Iraq? What kind of brain does he have- a rat brain? Look at what the US dollar compares to the Euro and yet he is trying to spend more again. Everyone is saying no to his idea and he still wants to send in more troops. The definition of a president is one who represents his country for his people and Americans do not want him to do this. Basically, everything is HIS decision and just decided to ignore the opinion of America.

Corrupt Congressmen

The Republicans for Congress have been corrupt these two years. Don’t you think it is time to give the democrats a chance? Some corrupt Republicans are Jack Abramoff who was sentenced to only 10 months in prison for his activities with SunCruz casinos. Now Mark Foley with his page scandal showing that he really did commit the crime with resigning as acknowledgement of being caught. Dennis Hastert admits that he has known about this since November 2005. Was this a cover up? Don’t you think it’s time for a change?

The Middle East

It seems that the Israelis receive a lot of help from America. Not only that, but they treat the Palestinians unfairly. Statistically, Israel kills more Palestinian civilians and than Palestinian kills Israel. The Palestinian’s suicide bombs are their only way of revenge against Israel. When hundreds of Palestinians die, do they whine? No, but Israel makes such a big deal out of a few deaths. Palestinians only kill because “the crime of killing civilians must be punished by killing civilians.” Americans should see how tilted the middle east conflicts are. More nations are soon to be involved with it.

Firefox and Safari very different

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kenny at 8:45 am on Saturday, March 25, 2006

I belive that Safari is falling very behind as things that show up on Firefox don’t show up on Safari. Safari is not very good at reading all the XHTML included with it. For example, compare my fruit site (found on the main page) using Safari and Firefox. So many other things are shown when you use Firefox. Firefox enables the use of WYSIWYG Pro which is whatyouseeiswhatyouget where Safari does not have this. For some textboxes, there is formating text color changing and more and as you type the font changes according to what you want it to change. Safari needs to move faster!

Halo Mods

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kenny at 11:26 pm on Sunday, March 19, 2006

There are more Halo mods than I expected. On macgamingmods.com, they have come up with more mods. Recently, on clanhalo.net, they have come up with a mod that enables tanks on the map, HOWEVER………WARNING……..You face the risk of your IP address being banned by the GameSpy network if you serve a few games BECAUSE, the tank mod uses CSS (cascading server side) in which GameSpy could easily catch you if you serve a few games. Your IP address might be banned and you won’t be able to play for a while. Dynamic IP might help a little. So, if you are going to serve some games, I would be a little cautious about it (as I have gotten banned). Clanhalo.net also has many forums and clans to join in case you are in search of one. They have lots of information and many other mods besides the tank mod that are for the Halo Demo. But they all use cascading server side. Then, why do they use CSS. This is so that everyone playing on your map sees the same thing so people won’t be confused. Anyways, if you do play the Halo Demo, I usually host my games. If I am playing infinite ammo, my server will be called “!INFINITE AMMO! No shee/flags.” If I am playing tanks, my server will be called, “!TANKS!-Use shees to counter.” If you see them, just join, and tell me that you got there from here. I am also thinking about starting a new clan called the Charaquad Clan (CQ). If you agree with me on that, then join my forum. Well, you can join my forum whether you agree or not. Hope to see you on my server!
Also, my podcasts, I am starting to run out of ideas for them, if you have any just email them to me.
